About CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services

CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services is dedicated to improving lives one household at a time. We deliver structured, community-based support built around a coordinated multidisciplinary model, where individuals receive the right level of expertise at the right time. Our financial and debt support workers help individuals take back control of their finances as part of a wider, joined-up support package.

About the Role

We are recruiting experienced Financial and Debt Support Workers to join our network of self-employed professionals. You’ll provide nonjudgmental, practical support to individuals struggling with financial pressure, helping them rebuild stability and independence.

This role offers genuine flexibility — you choose whether to work with adults, children and young people (in family contexts), or both, based on your experience and preference. Sessions can be delivered in-person or online, depending on what works best for each client.

You’ll be working with people whose financial difficulties often sit alongside other complex needs — mental health challenges, instability, or a history of being let down by services. Your role is to bring clarity, practical action, and calm to situations that often feel overwhelming.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reviewing income and expenditure with clients to build a clear financial picture
  • Creating realistic, sustainable budget plans tailored to each individual’s circumstances
  • Providing practical guidance on managing arrears, priority debts, and creditor communication
  • Supporting clients to communicate with creditors, councils, and benefit agencies
  • Helping clients identify and apply for benefits, grants, or hardship funds they may be entitled to
  • Signposting to specialist debt advice services (e.g. StepChange, National Debtline, Citizens Advice) where deeper intervention is needed — including DROs, IVAs, or bankruptcy routes
  • Building financial literacy and long-term habits that support sustained stability
  • Reducing financial anxiety through clear, practical action
  • Contributing to the wider coordinated support package through appropriate communication with the coordinating team
  • Upholding safeguarding awareness, particularly around financial abuse

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum five years’ experience
  • Demonstrable experience providing financial or debt support, ideally in a community, housing, advice, or social care setting
  • Strong working knowledge of the benefits system, debt management options, and creditor processes
  • Familiarity with the FCA distinction between general financial support and regulated debt advice — and confidence working within the support remit, signposting to regulated services where appropriate
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, particularly financial abuse and economic coercion
  • Excellent communication skills and a nonjudgmental, calm approach
  • Confidence working independently and managing your own caseload
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to outcomes-focused support

Requirements

  • Self-employed status (sole trader or limited company)
  • Relevant qualifications or training in money advice, welfare rights, or financial support (e.g. IMA modules, Wiser Adviser, MaPS-funded training, or equivalent experience)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (adults and/or children, depending on client group)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate, enrolled on the DBS Update Service (or willing to obtain and enrol)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • For in-person work: full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance

About CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services

  • £25 per hour (£35 per hour bank holidays)
  • Flexible hours agreed directly with each client
  • The autonomy to use your skills and experience to achieve real outcomes
  • Casual dress
  • Coordinated multidisciplinary team around every client
  • Access to specialist colleagues including CPNs, counsellors, behaviour support, and more
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing service genuinely committed to quality and outcomes

How to Apply

  • If you’re an experienced financial or debt support worker who wants to use your skills where they’ll make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
