About CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services
CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services is dedicated to improving lives one household at a time. We deliver structured, community-based support built around a coordinated multidisciplinary model, where individuals receive the right level of expertise at the right time. Our speech and communication practitioners help individuals find their voice — strengthening communication, building confidence, and opening up everyday life.
About the Role
We are recruiting experienced Speech and Communication Practitioners — including registered Speech and Language Therapists and qualified communication support specialists — to join our network of self-employed professionals. You’ll assess individual communication needs and develop tailored strategies that strengthen verbal and non-verbal communication, language comprehension, and social interaction.
This role offers genuine flexibility — you choose whether to work with adults, children and young people, or both, based on your training, experience, and registration. Sessions can be delivered in-person or online, depending on what works best for each client.
You’ll be working with people whose communication needs often sit alongside other complex presentations — neurodevelopmental conditions, learning differences, mental health challenges, or trauma. Your role is to reduce frustration, build practical communication skills, and help individuals engage more fully with their world.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conducting communication assessments tailored to each individual’s age, ability, and presenting needs
- Developing personalised communication strategies, plans, and goals
- Supporting speech clarity, language comprehension, and expressive communication
- Implementing alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) approaches where appropriate
- Building social communication and interaction skills
- Working with families, carers, schools, and other professionals to ensure communication strategies are embedded across environments
- Modelling techniques for parents, carers, and support staff to sustain progress between sessions
- Reviewing progress and adjusting interventions based on outcomes
- Contributing to the wider coordinated support package through appropriate communication with the coordinating team
- Maintaining professional clinical records in line with your registration body’s standards
- Upholding safeguarding awareness throughout
What We're Looking For
- Minimum five years’ experience
- For Speech and Language Therapists: HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist (essential)
- For Speech and Language Therapy Assistants or Communication Support Specialists: relevant qualification (e.g. Level 3 or above) and demonstrable experience working under SLT-led plans
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience appropriate to the client groups you wish to work with
- Experience with at least one of: neurodevelopmental conditions (autism, ADHD, learning disability), developmental language disorder, acquired communication needs, or AAC
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical practice
- Confidence working independently and managing your own caseload
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with families who may have waited a long time for support
- Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to outcomes-focused support
Requirements
- Self-employed status (sole trader or limited company)
- HCPC registration (for qualified SLTs) or relevant qualification and experience (for assistant-level practitioners)
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) preferred for qualified SLTs
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (adults and/or children, depending on client group)
- Enhanced DBS certificate, enrolled on the DBS Update Service (or willing to obtain and enrol)
- Right to work in the UK
- For in-person work: full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
What CHIRYO Outcomes and Intervention Services Offers

- Flexible hours agreed directly with each client
- The autonomy to use your skills and experience to achieve real outcomes
- Casual dress
- Coordinated multidisciplinary team around every client
- Access to specialist colleagues including CPNs, counsellors, behaviour support, and more
- The opportunity to be part of a growing service genuinely committed to quality and outcomes
